Elizabeth had been in Private Equity from 1990-the Present. Prior Law Practice SEC, FDIC, Washington private law firms. Elizabeth Avery began focusing on private equity in 1990 and has significant experience as to complex transactions as an attorney, investment banker and business/regulatory consultant.

In 2000, she founded Kalorama Capital, as an SEC licensed investment banking boutique focused on alternative investment.  She has led capital raises for alternative investment funds and select companies and structured complex, innovative credit facilities and asset-backed/mortgage-backed securities.

Ms. Avery has substantial expertise as to impaired and/or failed financial institutions. She previously supervised 50 failed financial institutions and served as liquidator of 4 specialty private equity funds. As to the international sector, she has provided strategic advice to both European and Pacific Rim clients on structuring and branding and accessing the capital markets to execute timely closings.  Ms. Avery has closed cross-border private equity capital raises, including both broad based and niche funds. She has served as a US delegate on two foreign missions and made presentations in South Africa, Russia and Latin America.

In addition, she was a presenter for select meetings with Vice-President Gore and South African Vice-President Mbeki. Ms. Avery holds a Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center and was an Honors Graduate in Government from Sweet Briar College in Virginia. Securities Licensure: Series 7, 24, 63, 79 Member of the District of Columbia Bar.


Eliot R. Kalter

Emerging Markets Specialist

Eliot has 30+ yrs experience in emerging markets, IMF: Assistant Director, Capital Markets, and Western Hemisphere Departments.

His impressive track record includes successfully effecting substantial closings in a difficult market.  Eliot is the Co-head of SovereigNet: The Fletcher Network of Sovereign Funds and Global Capital.  Has In-depth relationships with Sovereign Wealth Funds (“SWF’s”).  Has been a guest speaker at multiple global and domestic conferences with an expertise on institutional investor asset allocation issues.

Eliot holds a PhD. from the University of PA. and an MSc. from the London School of Economics.  Securities Licensure: Series 79 and 63.
